Celebrity Big Brother Final Day!

Tonight the final five battle it out to take home the crowd of Celebrity Big Brother champion 2012. Frankie Cocozza is the favourite to win it and let’s face it, he most likely will.

Personally I don’t want him to win, mainly because for me there has only been one part where he has gotten his popularity from and that was when he was sticking up for Denise. That act alone has changed me from booing him when I am in the crowd tonight to cheering him. However, other than that I don’t think he deserves to win. Yes, he did that one act, but I personally dislike how he talks to women, how he talks about women, how some people watch him and think that it is normal to be a bit of a dick “because he is young” and because generally, he’s a bit of an idiot. Pure and simple. Plus I don’t really agree with many of his personal life choices.

Best TV Episodes Ever – CHUCK: Chuck Versus the Ring

For my second post in the “Best TV Episodes Ever” series I turn to Chuck. Another American TV series, although this time a little calmer and tongue-in-cheek on the drama front and out there with the comedy. Chuck is a dramedy centring on the life of nerd and computer wiz Chuck Bartowski who, up until the series began, worked in the Buy More (a parody of Best Buy type stores in the US, think Curry’s in the UK) as a computer fixer until he inadvertently uploaded all the Governments secrets in to his head via “The Intersect” – effectively a super computer full of confidential information, and as such, a great asset to the US Government.

Chuck is currently in its fifth and last season and has evolved over time to become a great story of Chuck himself growing from computer geek to super CIA spy, with or without The Intersect. Chuck has had fairly low ratings for the last few seasons but has survived muchly thanks to the network that carries the show (NBC) having such terrible ratings overall that Chuck looks pretty good in comparison.

Best TV Episodes Ever – LOST: Through The Looking Glass

The best TV series of all time... In my humble opinion of course

I decided to add a new feature to my blog. A compilation of what I consider to be the best TV episodes of all time. I’ll add to this here and there but what better place to start than my favourite episode from my most loved TV show ever. Lost.

For those that don’t know, Lost is an American serial drama that aired for 6 seasons and 121 episodes between 2004-2010 on the ABC network. At it’s peak it had a massive 22 million viewers and stayed strong right until the end still captivating 14 million viewers for its final episode – and this is just figures in the US! Lost was a worldwide phenomenon and had devoted fans in a large number of countries, giving Lost one of the largest, intelligent and loyal fan base a TV show has ever had.

The Rise of Channel 5 Vs The Ruin of Big Brother

A short post today, mainly because most of the reading is on another site!

With the launch of a new celebrity series of Big Brother coming tonight I ponder the unfortunate truth that the show returning tonight is not Big Brother. Take a read of the article at the link below for a background on why Big Brother has been ruined.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/tv-radio/fives-star-treatment-the-return-of-celebrity-big-brother-6284982.html

Now while it might seem pretty harmless, having Big Brother at the forefront of a cross media platform is rubbish for anyone who enjoys the show itself. Instead of being a fantastic entertainment show where social barriers are broken and people can be seen being themselves, it is instead an edited ‘celebrity factory’ where the people who Channel 5 think they can make money out of after the show are edited in a good light whilst the ones Channel 5 don’t care about are edited badly. Thankfully the public in general can see through this sort of thing, hence Aaron winning Big Brother last year but also why the crowd booed him. Aaron was shown negatively both on the show and by presenters on all of Channel 5s spin-off shows, but people who genuinely watched the show saw him as a genuine guy with good morals. You just need to read what I posted the day before the final for more information. (Also my most popular post with over 4,000 views, thank you!)

The point I am making is Big Brother is a completely different show now in all but name and Marcus Bentley. For most of the world this won’t matter – For me, someone who loved the show on Channel 4, it’s just a big disappointment.

I cross my fingers for this series and hope in some way that Channel 5 make a little U-Turn after seeing how the plan didn’t work fully with the last main series of BB. For now, I shall watch with an open mind. If the show does turn out to be more of the same as the 2011 series then I will post a follow up to this explaining exactly why everything stated in this article is bad for the show along with some positives (if I can think of any…) In the meantime if you haven’t seen it, here is this series new diary room chair.

Big Brother is Coming…

Happy New Year and welcome to 2012! That can mean only one thing – Big Brother is coming.

That’s right, a new year brings a fresh crop of Celebrity housemates to the famous abode in Elstree and with Channel 5’s second series I am hoping for a growth from the original run in 2011 that tried to be too much like The Only Way is Essex and forgot that it was Big Brother. Again, I have been caught up in the hype machine and I’m doing my best to believe that this series will be much better than the woeful excuse in 2011. Sure, the main show was a pretty good series, but it was marred by many behind the scenes problems and bad editing that it was made horrible to watch, eventually crowning Aaron the winner to a chorus of boos – Which I believe only happened due to the obvious teenage skewed editing.
